When will Filecoin futures be unlocked? According to official sources, Filecoin’s futures contracts will be officially unlocked around 15:00 on July 20th.

Based on the latest information available until now (reaching block height 1380000), 16 customers have already pledged, with a total of 32 participants including miners, computing power providers, wallet users, and other 9 categories of investors totaling more than 400 people. This period will last for 4 days as a testing period, with 2 days remaining until the last test.

When will Filecoin be reduced production?

According to the IPFS China Community, Filecoin’s mainnet will stop production after reaching block height 14850000. The official team is currently preparing for the next round of production reduction plan. If everything goes smoothly (expected on August 25th), the total number of FIL will be reduced to around 1 billion, meaning an additional issuance of 200 million per year, which will be determined based on market supply and demand. Therefore, mining rewards are getting lower. So, when will the computing power start to decline?

According to previous reports, in December 2019, the total effective computing power of Filecoin surpassed 1.1 million EiB, and it has now entered the third round of stress testing.
